On June 27, 2025, Dnipro Humanitarian University jointly with Matej Bel University (Slovak Republic), held the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference on Current Issues of Legal Science, Law Enforcement and Combating Crime in Ukraine and the World, which has traditionally been held for the fifth consecutive year at the end of the academic year.

Among the conference participants are representatives of various regions of Ukraine (Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odessa, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Zaporizhia) and foreign countries (Slovak Republic, Kingdom of Spain, Kingdom of Sweden, Republic of Moldova, Republic of Kazakhstan).

The conference was opened by Ms. Tetiana LEZHNIEVA, Vice-Rector of Dnipro Humanitarian University, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, who welcomed the participants and wished them fruitful work and constructive dialogue.

Ms. Svitlana RAK, Candidate of Law, researcher and speaker University of Gothenburg (Kingdom of Sweden) also welcomed the participants and in her speech highlighted the practices of forming a positive attitude towards the police in Swedish children, teaching children the basics of legal behavior, and understanding that the police are a friend and their representatives can always be trusted.

Mr. Yurii IRKHA, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Head of the Scientific Laboratory of National and International Security of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Information, Security and Law of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine”, Associate Professor of the Department of Law of Dnipro Humanitarian University gave a presentation on the topic “Transformation of the Social and Constitutional Order of Ukraine in the Post-War Period”. During his speech, Mr. Yurii told the audience about the challenges for the social and constitutional order in the post-war period.

Ms. Yulia BABKOVA, a member of the Ukrainian Society of Neuroscience, a master's degree in molecular physiology and biophysics, a lecturer at the Department of Psychology of Dnipro Humanitarian University, presented her report on the topic "Evolution of aggression: biological and social factors of the formation of criminally unlawful behavior in the conditions of modern Ukraine." The speaker told how aggression originates in the human brain and which parts of the human brain are responsible for it. She noted that impulsive aggression in Ukraine today is not only an individual problem, but a reaction to collective stress, which is transformed into an almost automatic form of defense.

Ms. Alona BILA, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Law of the Higher Educational Institution "Alfred Nobel University" made a report on the topic "Lawyer Investigation as a Tool for Protecting Client Rights: Correlation with Operational-Investigative and Forensic Methods". Ms. Alyona presented the forms in which lawyers can conduct investigations for their clients.

During her speech, Ms. Svitlana BORYSENKO, a lecturer of the Department of Law of Dnipro Humanitarian University, spoke about the effectiveness of judicial protection of civil rights. Ms. Svitlana spoke about the effectiveness of judicial protection and ways to improve it. According to the speaker, one of the ways to increase the effectiveness of judicial protection is the introduction of electronic legal proceedings, because today this is especially relevant, since many Ukrainian citizens were forced to leave the country due to the war.

Yevhen SHCHERBINA, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Law of Dnipro Humanitarian University, delivered a report on the topic “Powers of Entities in the Sphere of Urban Development in Ukraine.” In his report, Mr. Yevhen focused in detail on the issues of which bodies and organizations are such entities and their powers.

Ms. Tetiana LEZHNIEVA, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, Vice-Rector of Dnipro Humanitarian University, spoke about the achievements and prospects in the liberalization of divorce by lawsuit.

Ms. Anastasiia MAKAROVA, a second-year student at the Faculty of Law of the Complutense University of Madrid (Kingdom of Spain), gave a report on the topic “On borrowing positive experience in preventing pickpocketing: the experience of the Kingdom of Spain”. In her speech, Ms. Anastasia highlighted the issue of the theft identification system, when exactly theft becomes a criminal offense, the groups of people who commit this type of crime, and how Spain combats it.

Mr. Anatolii DATSKO, a cadet of Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, spoke about the peculiarities of confiscating weapons during domestic violence. The speaker noted that Ukraine should take an example from countries such as the United States of America, Canada and Australia. In these countries, family members can contact law enforcement agencies with a request to seize a particular weapon in advance from a person who may commit domestic violence.

Summing up the conference and the speeches of its participants, Ms. Tetiana LEZHNIEVA thanked all participants for their very interesting and relevant reports, noted the high level of presentations and discussions, which contributed to the active exchange of ideas and stimulated cooperation between the conference participants. The event turned out to be an important platform for discussing the most pressing problems of today.

The conference organizers express their sincere gratitude to all participants and speakers for their contribution to the success of the event. This event helped create a fruitful platform for further research.
